Anti-Ragging Committee - Thiagarajar Polytechnic

Anti-Ragging Committee

Ragging is a punishable offense that violates the dignity and rights of students. In accordance with the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Honourable Supreme Court of India, our institution has adopted a strict Zero Tolerance Policy towards ragging. The Anti-Ragging Committee has been established as part of this policy to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students.

Objectives of the Anti-Ragging Committee

  • Prevent and Eliminate Ragging: Ensure that no act of ragging takes place within the campus premises.
  • Promote a Fear-Free Campus: Create a secure and friendly atmosphere for new students.
  • Monitor and Supervise: Maintain vigilance in and around the campus through continuous monitoring and surprise inspections.
  • Take Prompt Action: Investigate reported incidents and initiate appropriate disciplinary measures, if necessary.
  • Educate and Create Awareness: Conduct orientation programs, seminars, and campaigns to spread awareness about the consequences of ragging and the importance of mutual respect.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate guidelines and policies in compliance with UGC regulations.
  • Ensure that all students and staff are aware of anti-ragging laws and protocols.
  • Provide support and counselling to victims of ragging.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement authorities when required.

Reporting Mechanism

Students can report incidents of ragging anonymously or directly to any member of the committee. An online grievance portal, suggestion boxes, and helpline numbers are made available to ensure quick and confidential communication.
